19-year-old Nick Hutchison is out of the line-up indefinitely after he fell awkwardly into the boards, late in the second period of Friday night’s game in Penticton as the Backs opened their season series with the Vees. The Silverbacks rookie forward from Hicksville, New York had to be lifted up off of the ice with the help of teammates and trainer Tyrol Deeg. He was taken to hospital in Penticton where he received surgery on his right ankle and he is now recovering in Salmon Arm.

Hutchison has three goals and two assists in his first five regular season games, averaging a point per game. Hutchison also opened the scoring Friday in Penticton, short-handed and unassisted.
