The Silverbacks travel to Merritt today to meet the Centennials tonight for the fourth time this season at 7:30 p.m. at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. The ‘Backs fell 7-5 at home to the Vernon Vipers last night at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm, while the Cents had the night off.
The Silverbacks lead 5-3 in the third period last night, before allowing four goals in less than six minutes to finish the final frame.
The ‘Backs have just two wins in their last 13 games, dating back to October 27th in Trail. The Silverbacks are 2-2-1-2 on Saturday’s this season, 2-5-2-2 in November, and 4-5-1-2 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.
The Silverbacks come into Merritt at 8-11-2-5 with 23 points in 26 games, while the Centennials are 14-11-0-1 with 29 points in 26 games. The Cents have lost their last three games and are coming off of a 7-3 loss to the Vipers in Vernon on Wednesday after losses to Penticton last weekend, 5-3 and 3-2 in overtime.
The ‘Backs are 4-6-1-3 on the road this season, while Merritt is 8-3-0-0 on home ice. The Centennials have scored 89 goals, while allowing 90 in their 26 games. The Silverbacks have scored 83 goals, and allowed 91 in 26 games.
The Centennials lead the season series with ‘Backs 2-1-0-0, after opening with a 5-2 win at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm in September, before the Silverbacks won 6-1 in the Nicola Valley in October but the Cents won 4-3 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm on Saturday, November 15th.

The Silverbacks will dress six defenseman again tonight, after 18-year-old Bennett Morrison of Balton, Ontario moved onto the Chilliwack chiefs earlier this week in exchange for future considerations. Morrison had two goals, three assists and 12 penalty minutes in 23 games this season with the Silverbacks.
