The Silverbacks and West Kelowna Warriors meet tonight at 7p.m. at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm for their fourth meeting of the season. The ‘Backs went into Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna last night (Friday) December 5th, and won their first game of the season series shutting out the Warriors 3-0. As each team was looking for it’s second consecutive victory, after West Kelowna won 4-3 in Penticton last Saturday, November 29th while the Silverbacks were victorious 5-2 in Merritt.
The Silverbacks power-play in the season series is now 1-for-10, while the Warriors are 2-for-17 with the man-advantage in the first three games. The Warriors still lead the series after a 4-3 double overtime victory at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm on Friday, October 31st, and a 4-3 overtime win in West Kelowna on Saturday, November 1st.
Liam Blackburn of the Warriors sits with 13 goals and 30 assists for 43 points in 28 games. Andrew Farny leads the Silverbacks with seven goals and 23 assists for 30 points in 28 games, while Taro Hirose has 10 goals and 19 assists in 29 games.
Tonight will be the debut of Branden Wagner at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm, after playing his first game with his new team last night. The 18-year-old centre from Kelowna was acquired on Monday from the Vernon Vipers in exchange for futures. The former Okanagan Rocket of the BC Major Midget League had three goals, one assist and four penalty minutes in 24 games with the Vipers in his first full season in the BCHL. Wagner scored his first BCHL goal with the Warriors in two games in 2012-13.

The Silverbacks are 10-11-2-5 with 27 points in 28 games and are fifth in the Interior Division, the ‘Backs are four points behind the Merritt Centennials who are in fourth place and the Silverbacks are two points in front of the Trail Smoke Eaters who have two games in hand. The Warriors are 14-9-0-5 with 33 points in 28 games and are in third place in the Interior, two points back of the Vernon Vipers who have one game in hand and West Kelowna is two points ahead of the Centennials.
West Kelowna is 9-3-0-4 on the road this season, while the Silverbacks are 4-4-1-2 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.
The ‘Backs and Warriors will meet again on Friday January 2nd, 2015 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm, but the Silverbacks next action is Wednesday, December 10th at home to the Chilliwack Chiefs at 7p.m. at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.
