The Silverbacks and Prince George Spruce Kings meet tonight at 7p.m. at the Prince George Coliseum, less than a week after their first meeting of the season on Saturday, January 10th at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.
The ‘Backs haven’t played since getting by the Spruce Kings 4-3, courtesy of Josh Blanchard’s 13th goal of the season in the final second of the third period.
Prince George lost it’s sixth consecutive game on Sunday, 7-1 to the Vees in Penticton. The Silverbacks have just one loss in their last nine games.
Tonight will be the debut of defenseman Anthony Gardner, who the Silverbacks acquired on Saturday from the Coquitlam Express in exchange for future considerations. The 19-year-old from Langley, BC has 2 goals and 6 assists in 31 games in his second season with the Express and in the BCHL.

The ‘Backs are 17-14-3-5 with 42 points in 39 games and are fifth in the Interior Division, four points behind the Merritt Centennials who have also played 39 games. The Silverbacks are five points back of the third place West Kelowna Warriors, but the ‘Backs have two games in hand on the Warriors.
The Spruce Kings are 18-18-0-4 with 40 points in 40 games and are in third place in the Mainland Division. Prince George is eight points behind the Chilliwack Chiefs and five points ahead of the Coquitlam Express, with two games in hand on the Express.
Jeremiah Luedtke leads the the Spruce Kings in scoring and is ranked 13th in the BCHL with 14 goals and 32 assists in 40 games.
Andrew Farny leads the Silverbacks in scoring and is the second highest scoring defenseman in the BCHL, and 26th overall with 11 goals and 29 assists in 39 games.
The ‘Backs have scored 130 goals and allowed 123 in 39 games, compared to the Spruce Kings who have scored 126 goals and allowed 144 in 40 games this season.
The Silverbacks are 8-7-1-3 on the road this season, while the Spruce Kings are 8-8-0-3 at home. The ‘Backs are 4-3-1-1 versus the Mainland Division.
The Silverbacks will be back in action on Saturday, January 17th at 7p.m. as they host the Island Division leading Nanaimo Clippers at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm. The ‘Backs will conclude their weekend on Sunday, January 18th at 3p.m. as they host the Powell River Kings at the Shaw Centre.
