The Silverbacks (2-2) are into the final day of the BCHL pre-season schedule, as the ‘Backs fifth game is set for tonight at 7p.m. at West Kelowna versus the Warriors (2-3).

The Warriors opened the scoring early in the first period, before Silverbacks 15-year-old forward Ty Kolle of Kamloops scored at 9:15 to tie the score 1-1. 19-year-old import Elijiah Barriga of West Covina, California and 19-year-old Brett Stewart of Penticton picked up the assists. But the Warriors replied in just 35 seconds to take the lead back and go ahead 2-1 into the middle period. The Silverbacks outshot West Kelowna 11-10.
The two teams traded goals in the first seven minutes of the second period, 18-year-old ‘Backs import Jared Turcotte of Moorpark, California made the score 3-2 Warriors at 6:13. Stewart along with 17-year-old forward Marcus Mitchell of the Okanagan Rockets in the BC Major Midget League earned the helpers. West Kelowna potted the final three goals in the period to go ahead 6-2 after 40 minutes. The ‘Backs lead 22-10 on the shot clock in the second and 33-20 overall.
The Warriors scored four of the five goals in the final frame. Silverbacks 19-year-old returnees Ross Heidt from Taro Hirose found the back of the net at 16:07.
The ‘Backs edged the Warriors 12-11 in shots in the third, as the Silverbacks outshot West Kelowna 45-31. 19-year-old returnee Zach Dyment started the game between the pipes and allowed six goals on 20 shots in the first 40 minutes. 17-year-old hopeful Daniel Toews of Chase came into the game for the final period and allowed four goals on 11 shots. 20-year-old Angus Redmond watched his third pre-season game after earning the win last weekend in Vernon.
With the man-advantage, the ‘Backs finished 3-for-6 while the penalty-kill finished 6-for-8. 19-year-old returnee Josh Laframboise along with Brett Stewart and Marcus Mitchell were each involved in scraps throughout the game.
The Silverbacks lineup included nine returning players and more than 20 players are moving into the final exhibition game tonight in the Okanagan.
After tonight, the Silverbacks next game action will be to open the 2015-16 regular season on Friday, September 11th at Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm at 7p.m. versus the Penticton Vees.
